I have been told a lot of great things about the movie Sunshine Cleaning that was released in the early part of this year, so, naturally, I have wanted to see it. Well, it was recently available for viewing free-of-charge through the plan that I have with my cable TV and I just now got done watching it.
I will tell you a few things about this movie and, don’t worry, I won’t give away the main story by doing this. It takes place in New Mexico and stars Emily Blunt who portrays Norah Lorkowski and Amy Adams who portrays Rose Lorkowski. They are two sisters in their late 20s/early 30s.
Having had a tough upbringing without their mother, who passed away at a very young age, the two were raised by a loving father. Rose has a son named Oscar (Jason Spevack) who is probably about 8 years old.
Although he is very smart, Oscar has been passing the years minus a father figure which has resulted in a few difficulties along the way. He is not very easily understood.
Both the sisters have come across hard times financially as they continually tried to get somewhere in life. Yes, he found a way to make things work for himself, but their father is still not doing all that much better than they are.
Norah and Rose make the decision to begin a business, and that is what this movie is mainly about. It is not a business that you would normally think of because cleaning up areas where people have died is what this business happens to be. Every bit of residue and blood has to be removed from the area, but moving the dead bodies is not required.
The movie tells the story of their efforts and experience as they build this uniquely interesting business. Through the process, the relationships between Rose and Oscar, Rose and Norah, and various other connections are examined.
With some great acting jobs, you certainly feel a connection to the characters of the movie, feeling their joy and pain through their ups and downs. I’d recommend seeing this movie if you’re looking for a high quality drama.
